GROUPS - A reminder In release 3.4 M5 we issued "Group" working informally. The options were available but not shown on the questionnaire displays. We provided a document explaining the action to be taken to use groups. With this release we have improved the quality of Groups and now show the necessary command information on the relevant displays. "Groups" are simply a way of restricting the list of Functions and Files that you view when using Genesis V. If you are sharing a common specification (SPC) library with everyone in your department, the function/file list will invariably become very large. Departments can speed their access by creating different environments which point to the same SPC library but have different program or file prefixes. Developers are automatically located to their own prefix. In "Group" mode you only view
a specified list of functions and / or files. There are 2 ways to specify
a group definition. As soon as you have defined 1 Group, then everyone who takes option 1 from the main menu will be shown a list of Groups from which to choose. At this window (which is the same window as pressing F21 from the function menu) you can select option 'M' to maintain the contents of the Group. The first display enables you to select which programs are in the group and pressing F7 from here enables you to select which files. When a function or file is selected for a group it is removed from this list, however it is still possible to have a function or file appear in more than one group as you can press F19 at this display which reveals all functions / files not already selected in your group (Obviously a function or file cannot appear twice in a group) After defining the group, you can select
to work in the group using option 'X' in the Group Selection window. If
you press Enter without selection you will be taken into the full list
of functions / files |
